KT, Exent partner to capitalize on Koreans’ love for mobile gaming

(iTers News) – In a bid to cash in on Korean mobile phone users’ heavy spending on mobile games, Korea Telecom and world's largest game-on-demand provider Exent joins hand the deliver all you-can-play-mobile gam subscription service in Korea.

Under the partnership, KT, the country’s largest mobile service carrier plans to build the country’s first and only mobile game subscription service platform based on Exent’s Game Tanium platform, which is the first and only all-you-can-eat subscription service.

As the Game Tanium platform offers an unfettered game play of the hottest games on Android, millions of KT customers will have unlimited access to more than 75 of the best Android game titles like Farm Frenzy, Rpitide GP, and Majesty.



According to research firm Nomura Research, smartphone game users in Korea are projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 34% from 10.2 million in 2011 to 33.1 million in 2015, with spending on mobile games expected to increase to 710 billion won (approximately US$630.5 million) during this 5 year period.

KT’s faster-than-expected deployment of LTE network across the country will hyper drive this on-demand-mobile gaming service, allowing subscribers to get faster ride on the platform --

Exent powers the Games on Demand offerings for the world's leading service providers. By partnering with Exent, KT wireless customers will enjoy the best user experience anywhere as a result of GameTanium's sophisticated content programming, cutting-edge technology platform and an extensive catalog of Android titles optimized for mobile game play.

GameTanium allows operators to extend their brand and entertainment offerings to new screens, increasing subscriber engagement and average revenue per user (ARPU), and ultimately customer retention.

The new Olleh GameTanium mobile game subscription service for Android devices is available in KT's Olleh Market for a low monthly fee with discount pricing available for longer term subscription plans. A free 3-day trial of the service is also available.
